Kawasaki Syndrome Disease in Children

Kawasaki disease is often related with children. This disease affects mouth, skin and lymph nodes. This disease is also known as a Kawasaki syndrome or lymph node syndrome. Kawasaki causes inflammation of blood vessels of medium size in the body. It is common in children under age of five years. In some cases, this disease can affect the heart also, and it cannot be treated in children at this stage. In US, 19 children out of 100,000 are affected by Kawasaki disease. It is also commonly found in countries like Japan and Korea. Kawasaki disease was discovered by Japanese doctor name Tomisaku Kawasaki in 1967.
Categorization of Kawasaki:
Kawasaki causes swelling of blood vessels, which include arteries and vein all over the body.  However, this disease can be classified on the basis of cells, which are affected by disease. One type of Kawasaki is known for necrotizing vasculities and can be said to be death of tissues. Then Kawasaki can involve inflammation of medium-size  blood vessels and small blood vessels in skin.  Kawasaki is also known childhood disorder of vessels primarily under 18-year-old  children.
Complications with Kawasaki:
The main complication which can be caused by Kawasaki disease is that of the heart problem. The inflammation in blood vessels can cause a serious problem of heart arrest even among children. This situation is found among 18% of children suffered from Kawasaki disease. This is the most common heart disease of children found in US.
Causes:
Like other diseases, the most common factors for Kawasaki disease are that of genetic factors and environmental factors. People are not able to define any particular reason for this disease. However, research is still in progress. Some people are also assuming low immunity of the body against environmental factors as the reason for this disease. It has been stated by Children Hospital Boston that carpets cleaning or habitation near polluted water can be caused of Kawasaki disease.
Diagnosis:
This disease can be only confirmed with medical finding or clinically. The sign and symptoms of the body indicate the occurrence of disease. However, there is no explicit test available for this disease.   It is difficult to diagnose disease at early stages. People may confuse symptoms of disease with other diseases.
Latest treatment for Kawasaki:

There are a number of treatments available for this disease. At first patient is treated with aspirin to reduce inflammation. However, latest treatment for acute condition of Kawasaki includes using gamma globulin entered in the body through veins. Another treatment includes removal of plasma from blood and replaced with fluid containing protein.

These treatments can assist to reduce chronic stages of Kawasaki disease.
